Back to business again

After taking a break for a while, it’s time to get the development cycle rolling again. Right now, I’ve been working on a new release of SLAMPP which will contain some new features, programs and patches for known bugs so far. I hope it will be released at the end of this week.

Once again thank you for your support and feedback.

Welcome back, Kemas! Glad to see you!

It would be great if the new version would have:

    - MySQL bug fixed (I cannot give out the LiveCD to the customer with it)

    - Install HD working

    - OpenPHP key generation working (it hangs up when i try to make a new key)

    - ‘lite’ version of Slampp (like Lampix mini. only with Firefox and Xfce) - to fit it into 256MB flash drive (I also have 30MB of my web-apps)

    Thank you in advance!

I like this package, and currently have it installed on a machine, and am waiting eagerly for the update.

I imagine Kemas can pick up some great ideas from Clark Connect (http://www.clarkconnect.com), which has some nice interfaces and whatnot… but that I had to give up on for various reasons I won’t go into here.

One thing I liked about Clark Connect is that it had a nice, automated scheme to help you integrate each installed package into the firewall, so you didn’t have to open the ports manually (and by memory), and that would tell you "You have thus-and-such service installed and running, but the firewall hasn’t been configured for it yet…"

Thank you guys for your support and kind comments.

I hope all known issues will be fixed in the next release which will be published at the end of this week.

    # Shakhruz:

A ‘lite’ version will also be available a few days after the full one is ready. It will be powered by XAMPP (http://apachefriends.org/en/) and include Mozilla Firefox and Xfce as well. Which means, the lite version will contain the most up-to-date softwares available at this moment.

Concerning your idea, I think I will consider it and try Clark Connect to get some new ideas to be incorporated in SLAMPP. I’m glad to know that you at last have succesfully installed SLAMPP on your machine. :)

Well, actually, I installed SLAMPP onto a *different* machine than the one I was trying to install it on earlier. That earlier machine now has an eval version of Windoze Server 2003 Enterprise Edition on it (for a class I’m taking to become certified in it…) I gave up on installing ANY version of Linux on that thing… :-/
